Eugene Community Newswire (ECN) is a project of Eugene PeaceWorks Community Radio (KEPW 97.3 FM) and The Corporation for Public Community Newspapers (CPCN). We provides a hub for local news reporting – by and for the Eugene/Springfield, Oregon area community.
At ECN we believe that creating a local news ecosystem that is accessible to people in our area is essential to building a stronger and better informed local community. Just as our community’s financial resources are siphoned off by business interests from other parts of the country and world, our energy and attention is pulled away by national corporate media outlets bombarding us with an endless stream of stories about the latest scandals in Washington DC.
With ECN we create an independent way to focus our attention on the important things that are happening just a few blocks or miles from our homes. While it is true that we need to be able to think globally, we believe that in order to effectively act locally we also need to know how to think locally.
If you or your organization would like to join us in making news please send us a message.
